About

My love of photography started at the age of 4 when I would borrow my parents 110 Kodak camera.  My first notable image was “bird on a fence.”  To me it was a beautiful shot of a bird, but to most it was simply a picture of the neighbor's house and their fence with a tiny bird in the foreground.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a long enough lens, and being only 4 years old, I was not allowed to cross the street to get up close!

The interest in photography continued into my teenage years; I built a darkroom in my parents basement and would work to save money for film, paper and chemicals.  I would take any opportunity to work with established photographers for free, even offering to sweep the floor, just to get any type of exposure.  This led me to freelance assist for many photographers; architectural, still life, fashion, etc.  Then I landed a dream job as Photography Assistant to Walter Wick, the photographic illustrator of the I SPY children’s book series, and the author/illustrator of the Can You See What I See? series.  Eventually I became his Studio Manager and continued to hone my skills, not only in photography but also set building, working with teams to create videos, interactive games, jigsaw puzzles and card games, you name it we were doing it.  In the early days it was just Walter and I, creating sets, using shop tools and photographing them with 8x10 film cameras. During these years, I learned from Walters exceptional studio photography and lighting techniques.  I fell in love with the process of building unimaginable sets from scratch; we had built up and became a team of artists and set builders that could create anything!  I would sit with Walter for hours, coming up with ideas for the next book.  It was always, how can we do that?  And never, we can’t do that!  Problem solving became second nature to me and the challenges taught me how to be adaptive and solve for any type of obstacle.

I then took a position as Staff Photographer for the clothing company, Vineyard Vines.  This opportunity allowed me to work with talented art directors and stylists to concept and create campaign imagery. I brought my skills of lighting, photography, project coordination and problem solving to the role, in studio and in some beautiful locations.

When I’m not snapping pictures, I am spending time with my amazing wife and son who, I adore.  I am truly lucky to be able to do what I love every day— living my dream.

Enough about me, let's talk about you!  Give me a call or send me an email if you think I can help you. Even if you don't see something specifically relating to your needs on my website, it doesn’t mean that I don’t do it.  As I have learned over the years, it isn't we can't do that, but rather it is how, can we do that!
