I had the honor of working on a very sentimental project with artist, Randy Gilman.  This project was unlike any other shoot I had ever done; it was truly a spiritual and touching experience.  Randy asked me to photographically document the memorial of his son in the most unique way.  He spent countless hours creating ice boats to fill with the ashes of his son, which he lit on fire and released down a river on his property in Massachusetts.Capturing the process of randy giving his son back to the earth required me to be submerged in the water.  With the help of an assistant, I was able to shoot above and below the water during the seconds it took for each ice boat to be launched and then dissolve into the water below while Randy honored the life of his son.
